Children’s Services - Volunteer
Purpose of Position
To support staff in the provision of activities and learning opportunities/advice for children and young people. Supporting a team of Barnardo’s Play Workers to deliver open-access, fun and engaging outdoor play sessions for young people, at Adventure Playgrounds in Bristol.
To encourage children and young people to play and to extend their play through interpreting various pieces of equipment or ‘loose parts’.
To encourage children to push themselves to experience challenges and adventure in their play and to try new things.
To play alongside children, allowing them to lead the play activities where appropriate.
To help staff to set up and tidy away the sessions, providing fun and engaging activities.
To help staff to ensure that the session runs smoothly, taking into account health and safety and safeguarding requirements where necessary.

Ability to relate to children and young people.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Understanding of children’s needs.
Enthusiasm to support vulnerable children.
Enjoy outdoor activities.
Any skills in sports, creative arts or improvising activities are very welcome.
