Are you a friendly person who can offer support to older people in your local community? Become a Good Neighbours Volunteer and visit older to provide friendly social contact and help them with small practical tasks.
Good Neighbours volunteers are needed to visit older people at home. Tasks may include carrying out safe, warm and well checks, chatting to them and offering regular friendly, social contact. It may also include post office or prescription collections, assisting with shopping or food preparation, providing transport, general household jobs and helping them to access other services if necessary.
This is an ideal opportunity if you want to make new friends, to develop your skills and experience and contribute to the work of the charity by enriching the lives of older people and helping them get the best from life.
You’ll need to have a friendly personality, an understanding of the needs of older people with the ability to observe and identify areas of concern. You’ll have good communication and listening skills with a non-judgemental attitude towards an individual’s circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality.
Training will be provided and you will be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.
