Opportunity type

Do you want to support an older person returning home from a hospital stay? Become a Home from Hospital Volunteer and make the transition back into home life an easier one.

Home from Hospital volunteers are needed to provide a friendly and confidential service offering one-to-one, short-term practical support which enables patients to return home with confidence when no other support is available. Volunteers may help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, looking after pets or just being there when people begin to do things for themselves.

This is an ideal opportunity if you want to make new friends, to develop your skills and experience and contribute to the work of the charity by enriching the lives of older people and helping them get the best from life.

You’ll need to have a friendly personality, an understanding of the needs of older people with the ability to observe and identify areas of concern. You’ll have good communication and listening skills with a non-judgemental attitude towards an individual’s circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality.

Training will be provided and you’ll be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.

Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
