Pension Trustee at WWT
Wetlands are essential for life. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) creates and protects wetland habitats to provide water, food and shelter for people and wildlife. We save species around the world from extinction; our nine UK wetland centres and an additional working wetland site inspire thousands of visitors to enjoy being close to nature.
Committed and conscientious trustees play an essential role in the proper running of the WWT Staff Pension Scheme (closed) and we are now looking for a new trustee to join the board of trustees, on a voluntary basis.
As a trustee of a closed defined benefit scheme (with defined benefits Additional Voluntary Contributions) your duties are wide-ranging – from overseeing the correct collection of contributions to the investment in assets and paying of benefits. The scheme members look to you to make sure that their pension benefits are secure.
Ideally you will already have experience in pension scheme management and/or investments and you will be willing to travel to WWT’s HQ at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire where the majority of trustee meetings are held. Full travel expenses will be reimbursed. To be appointed as a trustee you cannot have been declared bankrupt or have any CCJs against you. You have the ability to follow sometimes complex legal and investment advice and make pragmatic decisions
Further details on your responsibilities as a trustee are in the role description available at www.wwt.org.uk/volunteer.
If you are interested in applying, please forward your CV to Sheila Wilcox, Head of Human Resources at WWT Slimbridge by the closing date of Friday 11th March 2016.
This appointment is as an Employer Nominated Trustee so a selection process including interview will be held to ascertain if the candidate is fit and proper for the post.
